IN PRAISE OF THE BOWLING GREEN LAWN.
Hello there, I am currently undertaking my level 3 in grounds maintenance, I have been asked to compare the pqs standards between football, cricket and bowls, yet i can’t find any information on how a bowling lawn is made up, as in is there standards on grass coverage, percolation rates, and things like the fall of pitches?
Is there anyone here that could possibly point me in the right direction?
Many thanks, Steve

Not one.

I know nothing of ‘pqs standards’ or ‘percolation rates’, but I do know about basic etiquette.
As a former Lawn Bowls commentator I have dodged the slings & arrows of rural competitive sports over the past two years.
Some of it was highly entertaining.
Some of it brutal.
But I never once underestimated the effort that goes in to maintaining a perfect lawn.
I have sometimes struggled with nomenclature.
Are the 'Groundsmen' of the past now Groundspeople or persons?
Could we call them Grounders for inclusivity? 'GroundsThem' sounds a bit clunky.
So I thank Steve for his unanswered question, in allowing me to purloin his words.
I shall from this point here on in refer to those who tend the hallowed turf as Grounds Maintainers. And I hope Steve passed his Level 3. ************************* It is 9.47am.
So far today I have taken 140mg of Diclofenac Sodium, 200mg of Pregabalin, 1000mg of Codeine, Fluoxetine, Folic acid, electrolytes, and Cetirizine Hydrochloride.
I have cancelled my regular swim due to mobility issues. I have morphine waiting in the wings.
4 days until 25mg of Methotrexate. 1 week until 40mg of Adalimumab. (Still no date for NHS operation).
